Knockout Awards 2024: Part 1

It's very likely you watched a lot more wrestling this past year than I did. It was difficult to find the budget for a lot of the matches I wanted to catch, but I'd still like to share some of my favorites from 2024. While I'll still be splitting this years KO awards into 2 parts, both will be a lot shorter shorter than some of my previous year-in-review posts.

All of the matches I featured this year on my blog stood out to me for a lot of different reasons. There were also a few I really wanted to highlight, but never managed to get around to for one reason or another. Here are a few of my favorites from this past year, in no particular order:

Mat Rats 187: Jedrick vs Scorpion - Thunders Arena

Brody Merritt vs Scrappy - Weekend Wrestling

I would have loved to have more than just these 4 make the list, but I'm looking forward to playing catch up and checking out some of the ones I missed this year in the coming months.

It was yet another great year for not only fresh faces, but we also had a lot of indie guys making the crossover into the underground wrestling scene!

I really loved Ernie's debut with Weekend Wrestling where he took on another debuting hunk, Dante Vice. Ernie is a great wrestler and is one of those guys that just looks hot as hell in any type of gear you put him in. A win/win! He had another match released recently where he battles Jason Aleqsander and I'd definitely like to check that one out soon.

Thunders debuted several new guys in 2024 and Jedrick caught my eye right away. His match with Scorpion was just as hot as it was intense. I couldn't find anything as far as any type of wrestling or combat sports background he might have, but he can definitely put up a fight. TA recently released a whole batch of matches featuring Jedrick, and I'm looking forward to picking some of those up in the future.

We all love our "home-grown" wrestlers, but it's always awesome to see guys from the indies join in the picture. Matt, Greg, Charlie, and Connor made their respective debuts with Wrestle Studs, the new offshoot organization that MBW started this year and I was really excited to see this happen. It sucks I was only able to catch one match so far, but from what I've seen other bloggers and fans talk about, all the battles look and sound solid.

I love the really kinky wrestling just as much as anyone else, but the pro/indie style is what really does it for me. I think Wrestle Studs will join Weekend Wrestling as (very easily) being the 2 companies I'm looking forward to the most in 2025.

That's all for part 1. I really wanted to make this longer, but I just didn't catch enough this year to have a good amount of material for the other categories I typically like to include. In part 2 I'll highlight the reviews that got the most traffic and what I'm looking forward to in 2025. I'd also like to include the results of my readers choice poll, but I really need some more responses! You can fill out the form by clicking here. I was going to close it today, but I'll leave it up until the 27th.

As always, thank you for checking out my thoughts and posts over the years! I'll have part 2 posted on NYE.
