Wrestler of the Month: February 2025 - Brendan Byers

Image
Out of all the wrestlers I have featured in the past for WotM, Brendan Byers is probably the one with both the longest tenure and catalog of matches in underground wrestling. An easily recognizable name and face to both long time and newer fans of the scene, Brendan's matches arguably never fail to please even the most selective of viewers. The earliest I could find from Brendan was both from Demolition 8 and Jobberpalozer 5 on BG East where he took on Joe Mazetti and Brooklyn Bodywrecker. Over the years he has transformed himself from a lean jobber to a muscular heel, and one of the best in the business! While I've only featured 4 or 5 of his matches here on my blog over the years, Brendan has put out some absolute bangers since he started his in-ring career. I'll be highlighting one of my favorites here later this week where he dominates Christian Thorn (aka Shawn Duncan) in a bedroom beat-down from WrestleFrat/Wrestler4Hire. Shout out to Brendan for taking some time ...

Brutal Brendan Byers vs Brody Merritt - Weekend Wrestling

Image
Brody Merritt faces off against Weekend Wrestling's resident bad boy heel in one of the most anticipated underground debuts in recent memory. Brendan Byers vs Brody Merritt - Weekend Wrestling It's playoff season for Football jock Brody Merritt. "I know I'll win MVP this year" he says as he tosses around the pigskin he brought with him to the ring. He's feeling "confident" and "honorable"...but as we see time and time again, there's no room for honor inside the squared circle at Weekend Wrestling.  Who better to face the new recruit and test his in-ring values other than "Brutal" Brendan Byers. A nickname that has definitely been earned over the course of his wrestling career.  Brody could have taken his honor and wholesome ethics and left the ring, saving his first challenge for someone more in line with his morals, but he makes the mistake of issuing it to the brutal one. Like me, you probably had a feeling that football wo...

Brendan Byers vs Jack Worthington - Weekend Wrestling

Image
Weekend Wrestling is quickly becoming a new favorite of mine. I was VERY excited to see the preview of newcomer Jack B Worthington to the WW team. He's got that look I just go crazy over. Handsome, scruffy, tattoos...woof! The backwards hat he has on just adds a much appreciated layer of "cocky" to his persona, and we all know cocky punks are my favorite. Brendan is looking great as always, and is sporting his own newly grown scruff as well. I dig it! "Brutal" Brendan Byers vs Jack "JBW" Worthington - Weekend Wrestling   Jack starts off by really putting Brendan through the grappling ringer doing his best to wear him down as fast as possible. A quick procession of flips and cradles and alligator rolls all come out from Jacks arsenal in the first few minutes of the match. We all know that this won't be a runaway for Jack though, and its going to require more than a few acrobatic grappling maneuvers if he's going to take Brendan down for...

Reno Razed: Brendan Byers & Cole Cassidy vs Zach Reno - Weekend Wrestling

Image
I've mused more than once about what a favorite of mine Zach(k) Reno has become. I also picked him as my #1 fighter in my 2019 review post. A true underground talent without question. Heel, jobber, or a solid back and forth, he can do it all and do it well. He also can pull off both a hairy or smooth body (and so can Brendan!) Needless to say I was immediately sold when I had a post come across my Twitter feed that he was going to be double teamed by Brendan Byers and Cole Cassidy in Weekend Wrestling's next release. Brendan Byers & Cole Cassidy vs Zach Reno - Weekend Wrestling Cole brings in Brendan who, in handcuffs, seems totally under Cole's control. The two enter the ring where Zach is already waiting. Cole brandishes a taser. "You know what happens, right?" he says, as he turns the taser on briefly, which seems to activate Brendan and causes Zach a bit of a fright as he backs up into his corner. This taser form of control is used a few times an...

Ball Bashed & Broken: Brendan Byers vs Max Ryder - Weekend Wrestling

Image
I've been keeping a close eye on underground wrestling veteran Cole Cassidy's Weekend Wrestling since the company first popped up earlier this year. This new school vs old school match finally got my attention, with the promise of an epic squash of Max Ryder. He's got a damn near perfect body and who doesn't want to see him "stretched and tortured to his breaking point" as the match description indicates? Brendan is looking hot as hell as well! I'm really loving the chest and stomach fuzz hes got going. Brendan Byers vs Max Ryder - Weekend Wrestling Max is led into the ring on a chain by Brendan and promptly un-collared. His nearly 15 minute demolition begins almost immediately. The camera is in the ring the whole time as well, allowing for some incredibly hot close ups! This is the perfect match if you are a fan of CBT. Brendan is relentless and the abuse to Max's balls is an almost constant theme. I wanted to have this review posted yeste...
