Brutal Brendan Byers vs Brody Merritt - Weekend Wrestling

Brody Merritt faces off against Weekend Wrestling's resident bad boy heel in one of the most anticipated underground debuts in recent memory.

Brendan Byers vs Brody Merritt - Weekend Wrestling

It's playoff season for Football jock Brody Merritt. "I know I'll win MVP this year" he says as he tosses around the pigskin he brought with him to the ring. He's feeling "confident" and "honorable"...but as we see time and time again, there's no room for honor inside the squared circle at Weekend Wrestling.

Who better to face the new recruit and test his in-ring values other than "Brutal" Brendan Byers. A nickname that has definitely been earned over the course of his wrestling career.

Brody could have taken his honor and wholesome ethics and left the ring, saving his first challenge for someone more in line with his morals, but he makes the mistake of issuing it to the brutal one.

Like me, you probably had a feeling that football would come into play. An accessory to Brody, but a weapon for any good heel.

Brendan gets dirty right away, but Brody keeps it clean. So clean in fact, he puts up little resistance. The temptation to return the favor of ball bashing and trash talking must be weighing on Brody. If he wants to at the very least survive this match, he may not have a choice but to throw away his ideals for the time being and get a little dirty himself.

Brendan slowly eats away at the defiant babyface who won't give in and continuously gets up for more. It's not until a minute long torture rack mid-match that the abuse Brody has taken really starts to show. At this point, Brendan begins to switch gears from toying with the new guy and really starts to break him down. The first half was full of ball claws and bashing, the last half will be all about making sure Brody doesn't get off the mat and stays down for the 3-count.

Win or lose, this is a great debut for Brody who doesn't disappoint and takes his Brutal Brendan bashing like a champ. And WOW does he look great in those trunks! VERY excited to see who else he'll be up against in the coming months.

This match is really entertaining, a little campy, and plenty hot! Just like indie wrestling should be, underground or otherwise. Ball bashing fans in particular will really dig this one.

Question is though...will Brody turn to cheap shots and start to get dirty and flip the script on Brendan? Or will he wake up defeated in an empty ring with a new perspective on just what he's gotten himself into by joining the WW roster.

I also wanted to take a minute to mention Weekend's monthly subscription. For $29.99 a month, you can access their entire match catalog (including the new weekly releases,) along with match galleries. More than worth the cost if you plan on watching more than one match. I've been subbed for a while now and I'm not disappointed!
