Zach Reno vs Roger Atlas - Weekend Wrestling

 

Just the idea of these two meeting in the ring screams squash match. Johnny is billed at 5'6 150lbs and Atlas at 5'9 220lbs. A mismatch for certain. Someone came up with this scenario as a custom match at Weekend Wrestling and I am about to watch this fan scripted concept come to life. This isn't Roger's underground debut but it is his WW debut. He had an incredible match with Johnny Grecco at Muscleboy. I didn't review that one, but I loved it and definitely suggest checking it out.

Zach Reno vs Roger Atlas - Weekend Wrestling

Who better to show the new guy around than seasoned veteran Zach Reno? He has helped Roger find his way to the ring but needs just one more thing from Zach. He asks Zach to be his sparring partner, or someone he can throw around like a sandbag to be more specific. 

Zach has his shades on (which are really cool tbh) and looks like he's about to go tanning on the beach or maybe just going to find a place to stand around and look good. 

Anyways, he's no ones practice dummy. 

What did the 5 fingers say to the face?

Don't disrespect Zach.

However, his arrogance is repaid in kind and then some. What happens next is what you might expect when a guy like Zach smacks a guy like Roger in the face

You'd expect this to be a total demolition of Zach at the hands of an insulted and enraged muscle beast, but as I like to tell my pals that aren't all that into wrestling that get surprised by unexpected match twists and outcomes..."Hey! What do you think this is? Professional wrestling?!" 😆

Oof!

 

 

No refs here, Roger! A low blow turns the tide of the match in Zach's favor and a sleeper takes Atlas down. The match hasn't even reached the half way mark yet, and there is still plenty more great pro action to go. 

Zach knows it's going to take more than a cheap shot and a choke out to keep Roger down for good. I haven't yet had the privilege of watching every underground match that Zach has participated in, but outside of his rivalry matches with Tyson over at UCW, this is arguably one of his best performances to date. He unleashes an onslaught of bulldogs, submission holds, pin attempts, corner work, and he even flies off the top rope! This is why I love it when we get 2 indie guys in the ring that really know what they are doing and who their audience is. You can at the very least expect an entertaining match. 

I'm not short of good things to say about Roger Atlas either. He brings his experience and knowledge to the underground scene. Atlas is a  goddamn specimen and looks INCREDIBLE in that singlet, in particular when it's pulled halfway down like in the first gif below. It's great watching Zach slowly tear down the muscle beast.

While there are a few KO's and pinfalls throughout, a nearly minute long and very hot sleeper highlights the final moments of the match leaving us to anticipate whether or not the victim would be able to break out or get that bust of fire and make a comeback that we see so often in pro wrestling.

Weekend Wrestling hits it out of the park yet again with this awesome action packed ring match! Zach and Roger are both very skilled and a great pair to watch in the ring. Kudos to whoever ordered this custom match. It's a A+ from me.
