Knockout Awards 2024: Part 2

Ok! Part 2 of my 2024 rundown is here. I'll keep this first part short and sweet. Here are the posts from 2024 that got the most hits:

I always like to see what posts from back in the day are still topping the list as well. I always find it interesting that so many of my posts from previous years still get more hits than others made in the current year, in this case knocking off some of the top 5 above several spots lower. Personally, I love going back and seeing what other bloggers have to say about matches from years prior. Sometimes it's nice to go back and check out what hot action we may have missed in the past. A big shout out to those that completed the end of the year fan poll. Unfortunately it was a bit of a flop. I only got around 30 responses in total, so this is extremely unscientific and overall I can't comfortably say it's a good barometer of opinion. Partially my fault for not advertising it more. In all honestly it's almost not worth sharing, but I promised I would so I'm going to try to make this work as best I can lol.
 
I left it open with no multiple choice, and the results varied. Several categories had all different responses (ex: of the 20-30 responses in half of the categories, each answer was different 😅) 
 
Since it's somewhat limited, the most solid category was Favorite Company of 2024:



The favorite wrestler of 2024 category was the most chaotic of all lol. I'm sharing the entire list just to show how tricky it is for me to really highlight this survey 😅 We did however get a couple of guys with more than one vote! Regardless, all great wrestlers!

Favorite Jobber got 23 total responses with Forrest Taylor standing out with 4 votes, and Jason Aleqsander, Tanner Ripley, and Scrappy getting 2 each. The remaining 13 responses were all different wrestlers.



The Favorite Heel category received 20 responses, with Brendan Byers getting 3 votes. The remaining 17 were all different wrestlers. 

 


Well, that's a wrap for my 2024 roundup. This took me waaaaayy longer to write up than I expected, but thats ok!
 
It was a rough year, and I'm entering 2025 with a lot of uncertainty and anxiety (probably just like many of you.) Still, no matter how involved you are with the wrestling community, there at least is always something we can all look forward to. Whether it be physically wrestling, engaging with your fellow fans, or just being excited about a new match release or new upcoming debut. At the very least, I want to start blogging regularly again instead of so sporadically like I have over the last year or so. As always, thanks for reading and I truly appreciate each and every one of you! Lets see what 2025 has in store.

  It's very likely you watched a lot more wrestling this past year than I did. It was difficult to find the budget for a lot of the matches I wanted to catch, but I'd still like to share some of my favorites from 2024. While I'll still be splitting this years KO awards into 2 parts, both will be a lot shorter shorter than some of my previous year-in-review posts. Greatest Hits - Match 1: Cameron Matthews vs Rico Dinero - CanAm

  Cameron Matthews vs Rico Dinero - CanAm  I've decided to do a series where I take a look back at some top matches from the past in my collection. These will be a bit shorter than my typical posts, but I'd like to highlight my all-time favorites. This is arguably my all-time favorite jobber squash match. As the name implies, this is an absolute beatdown and destruction of poor Rico by Cameron. He was an INCREDIBLE jobber and it's unfortunate he only filmed the Rookie Beatdown series with CanAm (there are 4 in total, and Rico is featured in 3.) Sometimes you come across a rookie that just "gets it" and he sells the hell out of every move and submission throughout the match. It's hot as fuck. My favorite scenes are during the final 3rd of the match, where Cameron sleepers out Rico numerous times until he's finally satisfied with the harsh lesson he's taught the rookie. Greatest Hits - Match 2: Zack Reno vs Tyson - UCW/UW

Zack Reno vs Tyson The Hammer - UCW #679 Continuing my "Greatest Hits" series, next up we have one of the many matches between Zack Reno and Tyson during their lengthy rivalry at UCW (match 679 in this case.) I haven't watched all of them, but out of the matches I've seen between the two, this one is my favorite.  I really can't think of any better or consistent rivalries than the bad blood between Zack and Tyson that the now defunct UCW put on display for us. The in-ring chemistry between the two is undeniable, most notably in their ball-busting themed match which if I remember reading correctly, was one of UCW's highest selling matches at the time. I'm sure establishing a long-lasting competition between 2 underground guys can be difficult to arrange due to scheduling alone, so I'm not surprised it's so infrequently attempted.
